Toton Watermill - full excavation

What happened?

Continuing on from the incredibly popular Manor House dig, we concentrated solely on excavating a watermill on the same Manor Park Recreation Ground for a full five-week period! This was Phase 3 of the Toton Unearthed project, and the last of the physical excavations in the current project.

Check out the day-by-day Toton Watermill Excavation blog which was updated right through the dig period - for a full five weeks!

There’s also a  “highlights” photo gallery of the watermill excavation, including photos of finds uncovered during the dig.

When did it start?

From 18th August 2014 until Friday 19th September 2014.

Where did the dig take place?

At  Manor Park Recreation Ground just next to the children’s play area.

Here’s an illustration showing the location of the mill and a rough guide as to where the excavation took place.
